ONSITE PROPERTY TOURS
Fairmont Mayakoba's guests are invited to join our Tatich (guide) in amazing adventures where guests have the opportunity to explore the natural wonders at Mayakoba.
Nature Adventure: The Nature Adventure is an hour-long tour that takes guests through Mayakoba's pristine water canals. During this tour, the Tatich unveils the different ecosystems found throughout the property and the different flora and fauna that can be seen in the area. It is a relaxing and low physically demanding activity suitable for the entire family.
Nature Trail: This tour takes place very early in the morning because it is when there is the largest number of animal sightings in the area. The meeting point is at the Willow Stream Landing (main dock) where the Tatich will be waiting for the guests. Half of the group will be riding on a boat, while the other half will be walking. Together, both groups will explore different areas in the hotel where the Tatich will explain the different kinds of foliage and wildlife found in the region. Furthermore, he will share Mayan legends with guests throughout the journey. The tour is appropriate for teenagers and adults, as it involves moderate physical demand.
BMW Bike Tours: At Fairmont Mayakoba, bicycles are a great means of transportation to and from different areas of the hotel. As part of the hotel's ongoing commitment to the Fairmont Green Partnership and its leadership in the preservation of the environment, the hotel offers complimentary use of bicycles and bicycle helmets that can be found throughout the resort. Guests can enjoy easy access to the bicycles at any time of day, at the numerous bike racks throughout the property.
Bird Watching Tour: For those who want to come in close contact with nature and explore Fairmont Mayakoba's diverse eco-systems, the hotel offers a bird watching boat tour with idyllic views of the mangrove, forest and beach, and its colorful inhabitants!
Melipona Bee Tour: Fairmont Mayakoba has just welcomed a colony of Melipona becheeii bees, in an effort to sustain this local insect and contribute to its conservation. The hive of stingless bees resides in the hotel's Willow Stream Spa Garden, where guests are welcome to buzz by for a peek. An important part of the Mayan culture for over a thousand years, the Meliponary honey and wax remains important for medicinal use, even today. The bees have arrived as part of a partnership between the hotel and the Melitsak, a local group of 14 women who have developed bee-related goods, who donated the hive in appreciation for the hotel's ongoing support. The honey produced on site is combined with honey from other Melipona hives throughout the area for use in custom spa treatments at Willow Stream Spa and in select dishes at each of the hotel's award-wining restaurants.
